Aaron Huey: America's native prisoners of war

I really like this photographer's article in Harpers, December 2009 (
"Ghosts of Wounded Knee"), and, in 1989, when the filming of Thunderheart was brining it's hollywood interpretation to the res., I was convinced that the real Pine Ridge should be photographed or be made the subject of a full length documentary, but did not have the photography skills and a valid question at the time was "why would you want to go there," since it was pretty much the same res. back then. This photography is close to the interpretation I invisioned.

Opening night for the Personal Effects Exhibit at the MPLS Photo Center

I had an image in this. Nice opening.... The area with the band was pretty full (more so than seen on the vid) once all the fashionably late people showed.

P.S. This is not my slideshow. It was supplied by the center, used with their permission.

Looking for something to do?

My image is bottom, second to the left. Consider this an invatation to a "private" opening. (Pretty sure it's free, and they usually have a nice spread at these things -- probably, sans booze.)

Sorry for the late notice. Just so you know, I will probably go, but we haven't decided yet whether to make the short trek. It is just one image, but (although I haven't seen all the full sized image) this group always floors me and is worth the visit. Theres another show opening on the same day: "alternative processes".
